Our lives,
so seemingly small, ripple out to the whole universe as tiny whispers like the sounds of butterfly wings, and the clear voice of the living truth. -J.L.D. |
Superfoods loaded with nutrients come together to create awesome skin care. Just a few teaspoons of ingredients mixed with a little water, make nourishing and toning feasts for the face and body. Enjoy these facials, and other skin care treats from a past Healing Feast: Gifts of Restoration. Because we use such small amounts per facial, once the ingredients have been purchased (and they all have long shelf lives) the cost of a facial is a fraction of what we'd spend to buy skin products or to go to a spa. Take some time, soak in the tub, relax, and enjoy! After we have a facial, our skin always says thank you!
Suggested links where we buy our ingredients are at the bottom of the page. We're always excited to make new raw food discoveries, like Irish Moss. We'd heard about it for years, but never knew it was so potent for the skin. It's used a lot in the cosmetics industry, but we never knew it could be made at home, fresh, without losing any of its healing properties.
From what we've read, the skin is the last organ to be nourished. The brain, internal organs, glands, blood, and so forth, usually receive nutrients before the skin. So it makes sense to nourish the body from the outside in through epidermal feeding. Many years ago, we had a friend who told us that he'd been born at an air raid shelter in London, during World War II. Adding to this dramatic event, he'd been born prematurely, and his mother had no milk. So small, he was carried home in a cigar box! He couldn't eat anything, and food was scarce, but they had olive oil. This was rubbed onto his skin. He survived, and grew up to be a strapping six foot two, strong, healthy, happy, and vibrant person. Rex and I never knew until then that oil could be so nourishing. The above recipes present a few ideas to get you started on creating a special skin care program for yourself using powerful healing foods without additives, preservatives, or chemicals. These are facials that our skin adores, which leave our faces toned and nourished, glowing and radiant. We enjoy the wonderful feeling that carefully tended and loved skin can bring, and we put our best face forward as we move in the world. Speaking of putting the best of what we are into the world, something not to be missed is the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. We don't watch TV, but these events are being broadcast via the internet right now. We were amazed, and my eyes filled with tears over and over as we watched the stunningly beautiful, artistic, visionary, mythical performances, and the honoring of the First Nations Peoples during the several hours of the ceremony. We feel that the Olympics may one of the world's greatest peace fostering events on the planet. As a former athlete who just missed going to the Tokyo games, the Olympics pulls deeply in my heart. This outpouring of outstanding effort gives us tremendous hope for the future, and makes us proud to be counted amongst humanity.
